Kundiman is pleased to announce that Grace Jahng Lee was appointed to the Kundiman Board of Trustees in July 2026. Grace joins current Board members Andy Chen, Ching-In Chen, Noah Arhm Choi, Kavita Das, and Rana Tahir.

Grace Jahng Lee was born stateless in Seoul and raised on four continents. She is a Kundiman fiction fellow, an inaugural Narrative Initiative Changemaker Authors fellow, and received the Bread Loaf Bakeless Nason nonfiction scholarship. For over two decades, she’s worked in harm reduction, HIV/AIDS, and health and human rights with queer communities of color, people experiencing homelessness, and people who use drugs. Her work has received support from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Yaddo, Jerome Foundation, VONA, Asian American Writers' Workshop, and Brooklyn Arts Council, and has been featured at the DUMBO Arts Fest, SOMArts, I-Hotel Manilatown Center Gallery, Hegyvidék Gallery, Arlo NoMad, Asian American Literary Review, Smithsonian Asian American Lit Fest, and elsewhere. She’s the former managing editor at Guernica and the nonfiction editor at Hyphen. A first generation college student, she attended the Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music in Caracas, Smith College, and UCLA, earning graduate degrees in Latin American studies/public health. Her work explores Asian femme bodies, otherness, addiction, memory/erasure, collective amnesia, and home/citizenship/belonging. She is writing a novel, based on her experiences coming-of-age in the activist-led harm reduction movement, and an essay collection. She works as a research director and Pilates instructor in New York City.
