Celebrating Creativity, Community, and the Legacy of Katherine Min

On September 9th, Kundiman and MacDowell partnered to host the 2026 Katherine Min Fellowship Reading, which celebrated Mira Jacob as the most recent recipient of the Katherine Min Fellowship and honored the legacy of author, journalist, and professor Katherine Min.

L to R: Kayla Min Andrews, Mira Jacob, Niv Sekar, Nawaaz Ahmed, and Monica Sok.

Katherine's daughter, the writer Kayla Min Andrews, read from one of Katherine's essays and discussed how important finding Asian American literary community was to her. This year's Katherine Min Fellow, Mira Jacob, shared from her forthcoming novel. Then Kundiman and MacDowell Fellows Nawaaz Ahmed, Niv Sekar, and Monica Sok read their poems and prose, and all five writers joined Kundiman Programs Director Gina Chung for a thoughtful discussion about community, craft, and the people we write for.
