writing at the intersection
with meredith talusan

Tuesday, october 5th
6:00 PM–9:00 PM ET

“What’s really interesting about being a writer is you get to spend time thinking to yourself, this is the story of my life, this is the story of how this happened. Then, you need to ask, is this how I really felt, is this how I really and truly conceive of myself?”
–– Meredith Talusan, The Paris Review: “Unflinching Honesty: An Interview with Meredith Talusan”

Regardless of genre, writing at the intersection of multiple identities creates specific challenges in terms of navigating not only one's relationship to the normative or mainstream, but mediating between rhetorics and experiences across communities. In this three-hour craft class, we'll take a look at some of the strategies intersectional writers have employed to express their ideas and aesthetics, as well as give ourselves time to work through some of these methods to figure out which of them can work for us.

This class will be recorded and sent out to all registered participants the following week.

This craft class is open to all writers of color. The non-refundable tuition fee is $50. This class will be held over Zoom. There are scholarship spots available, and applications are open through Tuesday, September 14th.
