Becoming the Harbor: A Kundiman Virtual Fundraiser

It brings us great joy to introduce you all to Kundiman’s fall fundraiser Becoming the Harbor: Anchoring in Kindred Community, which will take place virtually on Thursday, October 14th, 8pm ET/5pm PT. For nearly 18 years, Kundiman has provided safe harbor for the Asian American literary community. Through our programs, we have anchored emerging writers with mentorship, connected disparate Asian American writers in the diaspora, and offered readers a central hub to learn about new and diverse writing.

We invite you to join us on October 14th to support Asian American voices. Proudly hosted by Ariel Estrada, this interactive watch party will begin at 8pm ET/5pm PT with heartfelt readings of Asian American literature performed by Nik Dodani, best known for his role as Zahid on Netflix’s Atypical, Kaliko Kauahi, known for her role as Sandra on Superstore, and Michelle Krusiec, who most recently garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of icon Anna May Wong on Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood, culminating with the closing of our silent auction.

You can also start the evening early by purchasing the wine tasting package ticket to access our pre-show wine tasting. This reception will begin at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT and is hosted by our friends at Folktale Winery and features our special guest Jenny Dorsey, a professional chef and leader of the community think tank Studio ATAO.

All proceeds from the event will support free readings, writing workshops, a community building retreat, in-depth mentorship, and other virtual offerings that raise Asian American voices everywhere.

We're also hosting a silent auction that is open to all! Featuring manuscript consultations by writers Jia Tolentino, T Kira Madden, Crystal Hana Kim, Ligaya Mishan, and Arhm Choi Wild.

Purchase your tickets here. If you can't attend, we would appreciate a contribution in honor of the event.
