Jenny Xie was reviewed in The New Yorker for her first poetry collection Eye Level. Dan Chiasson describes the work as "a book about the necessity of toggling between the enchantments of the page and the allure of the horizon."

Eye Level was the winner of the 2017 Walt Whitman Award of the Academy of American Poets, and was published by Graywolf Press in 2018.
