About Kalehua Kim:

Kalehua Kim is a poet living in the Pacific Northwest. Born of Hawaiian, Chinese, Filipino and Portuguese descent, her multicultural background informs much of her work.

Her first collection of poems, Mele, won the inaugural Pasifika Poetry Prize awarded by the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association. She was named one of Poets & Writers featured debut poets for 2025 and was a 2023 winner of the James Welch Prize for Indigenous Poets.

Kalehua earned earned her MFA through the Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University and was a Fellow with the Indigenous Nations Poets in 2023 and 2024.

Her work has appeared in Poetry Northwest, Denver Quarterly, Calyx, and ‘Ōiwi, A Native Hawaiian Journal.
