A collaboration among Mixing Innovative Arts (MIA), Kundiman, and the Hub Coworking Space, "Build Me a Bangka: Departures from the Philippines - New Diasporic Writing" is hosted by Kristiana Kahakauwila and Sujatha Raman and co-sponsored by the Kundiman Hawaiʻi Regional Group.
This reading will feature Michelle Peñaloza, Lawrence Ypil, Angela Peñaredondo, Joseph Manuel, and Almendro L. Fernandez. Sharing in the work of writing and living as part of the diaspora from the Philippines, these five extraordinary writers have found homes in Hawaiʻi, California, and beyond, while they collectively nourish the ancestral inheritance of their homeland. We are honored to bear witness to their stories.
This free community event will take place on Thursday, March 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. HST at the Hub Coworking Space, 1050 Queen Street, Honolulu, HI 96822. Learn more and RSVP here.
