Caring for liberation:
a workshop
presented by Kundiman & smithsonian
Asian Pacific american center

Tuesday, August 18th
3:00 PM–4:30PM ET

“When we come to writing, we often imagine we must pen (or type!) something that stands the test of time. But this view elides what writing can enable in one’s present life, how writing can serve as an act of healing or moving towards self-recognition and wholeness regardless of how long the writing–or even such feeling–lasts.” —Purvi Shah, Joyful Heart Foundation: “Writing for the Heart: A Practice for Self-Liberation”

Join us and the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center for Caring for Liberation: A Workshop, facilitated by Sunu P. Chandy, Krittika Ghosh, and Purvi Shah! The ways we give, receive, and create chosen families of care are connected to gender, ethnicity, sexuality, immigration status, birth order, and more. In this time of pandemic and activation of calls for racial justice, we will deepen our rituals of care and the possibilities of co-creation. Through embodied healing art practices, we will nurture connection to self and community care and move towards healing and collective liberation.

This workshop is free and open to people who identify as BIPOC. Spots are limited.

Registration for this class is now closed.
